In 2022, overseas shipments of x-ray apparatus increased by 6.1% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 31%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus exports declined slightly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 14%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

The shipments of the four major exporters of x-ray apparatus, namely Spain, Italy, Germany and France, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The Netherlands (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 7% share, followed by Finland (6.9%) and Ireland (5.7%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of +61.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest x-ray apparatus supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 83% of total exports. Italy, Finland, Spain and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +5.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, x-ray apparatus imports in the European Union skyrocketed to X units, rising by 19% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray apparatus imports amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.9% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 17%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2022, Spain (X units), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), France (X units), Slovakia (X units), Italy (X units) and Germany (X units) were the major importers of x-ray apparatus, together comprising 79% of total imports. Greece (X units), Finland (X units), Belgium (X units) and Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +37.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest x-ray apparatus importing markets in the European Union were France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 54% of total imports. Spain, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Slovakia and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +12.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 50% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
