From 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+4.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

By contrast, Italy (-1.6%) and France (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belgium (+6.4 p.p.), the Netherlands (+3.3 p.p.) and Switzerland (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of France (-1.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest acetic anhydride importing markets in Europe were Belgium ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 71% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain, which together accounted for a further 22%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +9.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
