As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -26.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe

In 2021, shipments abroad of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof increased by 8.1% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 60%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 134%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2021, France (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the major exporters of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof in Europe, together mixing up 65% of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Germany (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 28% share of total exports. Ukraine (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +121.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the largest aircraft launching gear supplier in Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Finland ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in France stood at +2.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Finland (+4.7% per year) and the Netherlands (+96.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 47%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+8.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof were imported in Europe; shrinking by -42.6% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 133% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear imports declined notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 145% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of aircraft launching gear imports in 2021 were France (X tons), Spain (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together amounting to 79% of total import. It was distantly followed by Latvia (X tons), constituting a 5.5% share of total imports. The following importers - Ireland (X tons) and Norway (X tons) - each resulted at a 5.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Latvia (with a CAGR of +69.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aircraft launching gear importing markets in Europe were Ireland ($X), France ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 68% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Latvia, Sweden and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

Among the main importing countries, Latvia, with a CAGR of +62.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 72% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
