The Europe aircraft launching gear market shrank to $X in 2021, dropping by -13.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed moderate growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 60%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, France (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the major exporters of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof in Europe, together mixing up 65% of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Germany (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 28% share of total exports. The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 47%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+8.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof were imported in Europe; shrinking by -42.6% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 133% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear imports declined notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 145% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of aircraft launching gear imports in 2021 were France (X tons), Spain (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together amounting to 79% of total import. In value terms, the largest aircraft launching gear importing markets in Europe were Ireland ($X), France ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 68% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Latvia, Sweden and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

Among the main importing countries, Latvia, with a CAGR of +62.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 72% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
