In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly 65% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by France (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together constituting an 11% share of total imports. In value terms, the largest albumins and albuminates importing markets in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), the UK ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. Poland, France, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Ireland and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 15%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
