Aluminium Alloy Wire Market Size in Europe

The Europe aluminium alloy wire market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 7.9%. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of aluminium alloy wire increased by 2.7% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, aluminium alloy wire exports soared to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the four major exporters of aluminium alloy wire, namely Spain, France, Austria and the Netherlands, represented more than half of total export. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), Italy (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the UK (X tons), together constituting a 23% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +39.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aluminium alloy wire supplying countries in Europe were Spain ($X), France ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 48% share of total exports. The Netherlands, the UK, Hungary, Belgium and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

Austria, with a CAGR of +24.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of aluminium alloy wire, when their volume increased by 21% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium alloy wire imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of aluminium alloy wire imports in 2022 were France (X tons), Germany (X tons), Finland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Austria (X tons), together accounting for 63% of total import. The following importers - the Netherlands (X tons), Russia (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Norway (X tons) - together made up 21% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +22.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium alloy wire in Europe, comprising 23% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Finland, with a 7.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in France totaled +17.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (-10.6% per year) and Finland (+21.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
