In 2022, the Europe aluminium tube market increased by 17% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after six years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable setback. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Europe
Aluminium tube exports declined to X tons in 2022, waning by -12.5% against the previous year. Overall, exports showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium tube exports rose to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 22%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X tons), distantly followed by Italy (X tons), Serbia (X tons), Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) represented the main exporters of aluminium tubes and pipes, together constituting 80% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Serbia (with a CAGR of +60.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 49% share of total exports. Serbia, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
Among the main exporting countries, Serbia, with a CAGR of +58.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, overseas purchases of aluminium tubes and pipes were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium tube imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Romania represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 36% of total imports. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), Germany (X tons), Russia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together mixing up a 32% share of total imports. The following importers - Spain (X tons), Austria (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) - together made up 21% of total imports.
Romania was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium tubes and pipes imports, with a CAGR of +14.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+2.3%) and Russia (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Poland, Spain and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Austria (-1.3%), Bulgaria (-2.0%), Belarus (-3.8%), the UK (-3.8%), France (-4.0%), the Netherlands (-4.5%) and Italy (-12.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Romania (+27 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while France and Italy saw its share reduced by -4.4% and -13.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Romania ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium tubes and pipes in Europe, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Romania amounted to +14.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-1.7% per year) and Germany (+0.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, leveling off in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
