Apple Juice Market Size in Europe

The Europe apple juice market shrank to $X in 2021, waning by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Apple Juice Production in Europe

In value terms, apple juice production expanded slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

For the seventh year in a row, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of apple juice (single strength), which increased by 4.5% to X tons in 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, apple juice exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 26%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the main exporters of apple juice (single strength) in 2021, resulting at near 32% and 24% of total exports, respectively. Italy (X tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Austria (5.6%) and Belgium (4.6%). Ireland (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Russia (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and France (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest apple juice supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 55% share of total exports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +20.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 5.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of apple juice (single strength) were imported in Europe; surging by 12% against 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +8.6% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, apple juice imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 34%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The UK (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 71% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), generating a 7.4% share of total imports. The following importers - Spain (X tons), Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - each recorded an 8.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +12.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the UK ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 54% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark and Spain, which together accounted for a further 29%.

Germany, with a CAGR of +10.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (-0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
