The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 18% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, aramids staple imports in Europe skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 25% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belgium (+41 p.p.), Spain (+5.6 p.p.), the Netherlands (+5.3 p.p.) and Slovenia (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of France (-3.5 p.p.), Italy (-13.4 p.p.) and Germany (-28.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aramids staple in Europe, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Belgium totaled +102.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (-2.8% per year) and the Netherlands (+16.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 5.9% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
