In 2022, overseas shipments of blow lamps decreased by -18.2% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, blow lamp exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany represented the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 40% of total exports. France (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Netherlands (X tons) and Estonia (X tons). All these countries together took near 40% share of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - each amounted to an 8.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to blow lamp exports from Germany stood at +5.9%. At the same time, the Netherlands (+15.4%), Denmark (+15.2%), Estonia (+8.5%), Poland (+7.6%) and France (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Netherlands, Germany, Estonia, France and Denmark increased by +8.3, +7.6, +3.6, +3.3 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest blow lamp supplier in Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Estonia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 9.9% share.
In Germany, blow lamp exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Estonia (+10.2% per year) and France (-1.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of blow lamps decreased by -11.4% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, blow lamp imports dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) represented the key importer of blow lamps, constituting 30% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), France (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Austria (X tons), together committing a 36% share of total imports. The following importers - the Netherlands (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Romania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Spain (X tons) - together made up 22% of total imports.
Imports into Germany increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+23.7%), Ukraine (+16.6%), Spain (+11.7%), Poland (+8.6%), the Netherlands (+6.5%), Austria (+4.6%), Denmark (+3.1%), Italy (+2.2%) and France (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +23.7% from 2012-2022. The UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-1.1%) and Romania (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Germany (+17 p.p.), Ukraine (+2.5 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of France (-2.3 p.p.), the UK (-2.3 p.p.), Romania (-7.4 p.p.) and Russia (-8.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blow lamps in Europe, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 7.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled +11.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+5.9% per year) and Russia (+3.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 11%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
