The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere, girdle and corset exports reached $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The biggest shipments were from Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together resulting at 62% of total export. It was distantly followed by Austria (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together constituting a 9.6% share of total exports. Greece (X tons), the UK (X tons), Croatia (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +27.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest brassiere, girdle and corset supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 37% of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Belgium, Austria, France, Spain, the UK, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Greece, which together accounted for a further 49%.

Among the main exporting countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +18.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 9.8%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+13.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of brassieres, girdles and corsets were imported in Europe; increasing by 11% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The purchases of the three major importers of brassieres, girdles and corsets, namely Germany, the UK and France, represented more than third of total import. Italy (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 8.1% share, followed by the Netherlands (6.6%), Spain (6.3%) and Poland (5.3%). The following importers - Belgium (X tons), Russia (X tons), Austria (X tons), Greece (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 40% of total imports. The Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, the Czech Republic and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.

Among the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +14.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
