Brassiere Market Size in Europe

The Europe brassiere market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. In general, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the market value increased by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 14%. Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), France (X units), Italy (X units), Poland (X units), Belgium (X units), Austria (X units), the UK (X units), Spain (X units) and Greece (X units) represented roughly 79% of total exports in 2021. Croatia (X units), Serbia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +27.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 37% share of total exports. Poland, Belgium, Austria, France, Spain, the UK, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.

The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +17.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+13.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Brassiere imports rose markedly to X units in 2021, picking up by 8.9% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated, namely Germany, the UK and France, represented more than third of total import. It was distantly followed by Italy (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units), together achieving a 26% share of total imports. Russia (X units), Belgium (X units), Austria (X units), Greece (X units), Switzerland (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +9.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 40% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, the Czech Republic and Greece, which together accounted for a further 46%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +15.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+12.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
