Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +35.1% from 2012-2021. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Netherlands, Lithuania and Belgium increased by +3.3, +3.1 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest calendering machine supplying countries in Europe were Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Switzerland ($X), with a combined 82% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Lithuania and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 8.4%.

Lithuania, with a CAGR of +14.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

For the third consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in overseas purchases of calendering and rolling machines, which increased by 23% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, calendering machine imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was near 74% of total imports in 2021. Serbia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Ukraine (X units). All these countries together took approx. 14% share of total imports. The UK (X units) and Belgium (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the calendering and rolling machines imports, with a CAGR of +25.0% from 2012 to 2021.
