Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
In value terms, cauliflower and broccoli exports shrank to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Spain (X tons) represented the main exporter of cauliflower and broccoli, comprising 53% of total exports. France (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Italy (12%) and the Netherlands (9%). The following exporters - Portugal (X tons) and Poland (X tons) - each recorded a 6% share of total exports.
Exports from Spain increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Portugal (+30.8%) and the Netherlands (+9.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Portugal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +30.8% from 2012-2022. Italy and Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-3.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal increased by +9.4, +4.7 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the largest cauliflower and broccoli supplier in Europe, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 10% share.
In Spain, cauliflower and broccoli exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+2.4% per year) and France (-3.7% per year).

In 2022, imports of cauliflower and broccoli in Europe rose rapidly to X tons, surging by 12% against 2021. Overall, imports recorded a mild expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The countries with the highest levels of cauliflower and broccoli imports in 2022 were the UK (X tons), Germany (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Norway (X tons), together accounting for 83% of total import.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +9.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest cauliflower and broccoli importing markets in Europe were the UK ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together accounting for 49% of total imports. France, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
