The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, exports of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates in Europe skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 104% against 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
Russia dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Austria (X tons), making up a 4.8% share of total exports. The following exporters - the Netherlands (X tons) and Germany (X tons) - each finished at a 3.8% share of total exports.
Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -8.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Netherlands (+15.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +15.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Austria (-6.2%) and Germany (-10.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia and the Netherlands increased by +8.9 and +1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest chromates supplier in Europe, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 3.6% share.
In Russia, chromates exports shrank by an average annual rate of -9.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (-4.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+14.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -9.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 64% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+38.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, overseas purchases of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates increased by 24% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) was the major importer of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates, creating 53% of total imports. Estonia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Romania (X tons) and Austria (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 35% share of total imports. The following importers - France (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - together made up 7.9% of total imports.
Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of chromates, dichromates and peroxochromates. At the same time, Austria (+12.8%), Romania (+9.1%) and Estonia (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Austria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +12.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, France (-7.5%) and Italy (-12.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (+5.4 p.p.), Estonia (+4.4 p.p.), Romania (+3.9 p.p.) and Austria (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while France and Italy saw its share reduced by -4.3% and -8.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

The second position in the ranking was held by Estonia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 7.3% share.
In Germany, chromates imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Estonia (-2.8% per year) and France (-3.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
