From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cylindrical roller bearing exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 43% of total exports. Romania (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Slovakia (11%). The following exporters - Russia (X tons), Poland (X tons), France (X tons), Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Austria (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - together made up 26% of total exports.

Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of cylindrical roller bearings. At the same time, Spain (+22.2%), the Czech Republic (+5.7%), Italy (+4.1%), Poland (+3.8%), the Netherlands (+3.6%), Romania (+2.9%), Slovakia (+2.3%) and France (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +22.2% from 2012-2022. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sweden (-2.1%) and Russia (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Romania (+4 p.p.), Slovakia (+2.5 p.p.), Germany (+2.1 p.p.) and Spain (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -3.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest cylindrical roller bearing supplier in Europe, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Romania ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with an 8.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Romania (+1.3% per year) and France (+5.3% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cylindrical roller bearing imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Russia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 51% of total imports in 2022. Spain (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X tons). All these countries together took near 13% share of total imports. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
