In value terms, Poland ($X), Norway ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 52% share of total exports. Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Sweden, Spain, Belarus and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 7.1%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of dried or smoked fish increased by 4.5% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 8.5% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, dried or smoked fish imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, the largest dried or smoked fish importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Portugal ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, Russia, Denmark, the UK and Albania, which together accounted for a further 42%.
Albania, with a CAGR of +21.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 10%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Albania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
