Wood Dryer Market Size in Europe

The Europe wood dryer market skyrocketed to $X in 2021, growing by 28% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a slight decrease. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard exported in Europe skyrocketed to X units, rising by 49% against 2020. In general, exports posted a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, wood dryer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X units) and Finland (X units) were the key exporters of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard in Europe, together creating 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Italy (X units), creating a 13% share of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X units), Romania (X units), France (X units) and Austria (X units) - together made up 11% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +68.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Finland ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 56% of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, France, Poland and Romania, which together accounted for a further 21%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +51.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -19.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price faced a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 13%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Wood Dryer Imports

Imports in Europe

In 2021, supplies from abroad of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard increased by 39% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood dryer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia (X units), Norway (X units) and Germany (X units) represented roughly 47% of total imports in 2021. Ukraine (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.7% share, followed by Switzerland (5.8%). Austria (X units), Italy (X units), France (X units), Finland (X units), Poland (X units), Sweden (X units), Spain (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +31.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard in Europe, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 6.6% share.

In Russia, wood dryer imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+17.0% per year) and Italy (+15.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -4.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wood dryer import price decreased by -22.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 43%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
