In value terms, diagnostic equipment production fell to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +42.5% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 36%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Exports in Europe

For the third year in a row, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, which increased by 16% to X units in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +59.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +82.8% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the key exporters of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus in Europe, together finishing at near 51% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the UK (X units) and Ireland (X units), together creating a 27% share of total exports. Italy (X units), Austria (X units), France (X units), Poland (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of +37.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest diagnostic equipment supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Ireland ($X), with a combined 66% share of total exports. The UK, Belgium, Austria, Italy, France and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +26.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, purchases abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus increased by 12% to X units, rising for the fifth year in a row after four years of decline. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +73.1% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 29%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Germany (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the major importers of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus in 2021, resulting at near 28% and 18% of total imports, respectively. Russia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9% share, followed by the UK (7.2%), France (6.9%) and Italy (4.8%). Austria (X units), Spain (X units), Ireland (X units), Poland (X units) and Belgium (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of +18.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest diagnostic equipment importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. The UK, Italy, Russia, Austria, Spain, Poland, Belgium and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

Among the main importing countries, Ireland, with a CAGR of +12.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
