The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +84.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, endless machinery band exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X square meters) and Sweden (X square meters) represented the largest exporters of endless bands for machinery, of stainless steel in Europe, together generating 59% of total exports. Italy (X square meters) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X square meters). All these countries together held approx. 24% share of total exports. The UK (X square meters), Spain (X square meters) and Belgium (X square meters) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Sweden (with a CAGR of +40.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, endless machinery band export price decreased by -22.3% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while Sweden ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of endless bands for machinery, of stainless steel increased by 50% to X square meters in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 54%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, endless machinery band imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded strong growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of endless machinery band imports in 2021 were Spain (X square meters), the Netherlands (X square meters) and Germany (X square meters), together accounting for 58% of total import. It was distantly followed by Denmark (X square meters) and Italy (X square meters), together generating a 13% share of total imports. Hungary (X square meters), Ireland (X square meters), France (X square meters), Portugal (X square meters), Belgium (X square meters) and Bulgaria (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported endless bands for machinery, of stainless steel in Europe, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 12% share.

In the Netherlands, endless machinery band imports increased at an average annual rate of +28.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+24.6% per year) and Germany (+18.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per square meter, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per square meter), while Hungary ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
