The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
First-Aid Kit Production in Europe
In value terms, first-aid kit production rose markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the production volume increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the amount of first-aid boxes and kits exported in Europe totaled X tons, surging by 3.9% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, first-aid kit exports amounted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 15%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) represented the major exporter of first-aid boxes and kits, constituting 37% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and the UK (X tons), together achieving a 41% share of total exports. The following exporters - Bulgaria (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Belgium (X tons), France (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - together made up 13% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to first-aid kit exports from Germany stood at +3.3%. At the same time, Lithuania (+57.9%), Bulgaria (+15.0%), Poland (+10.1%), Portugal (+8.5%), France (+5.0%), the Netherlands (+4.8%) and Italy (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +57.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belgium (-3.1%) and the UK (-3.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+8.6 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.8 p.p.), Lithuania (+2.6 p.p.) and Portugal (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belgium (-2.3 p.p.) and the UK (-4.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest first-aid kit supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 55% of total exports. The UK, Portugal, Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +69.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 12%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, after ten years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of first-aid boxes and kits, when their volume decreased by -8.8% to X tons. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 21%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, first-aid kit imports stood at $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +94.3% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) represented the key importer of first-aid boxes and kits, generating 34% of total imports. France (X tons) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (9.2%), the Netherlands (7.8%) and the UK (7.3%). Belgium (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Spain (X tons), Romania (X tons), Austria (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Ireland (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Germany increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lithuania (+37.0%), Romania (+21.6%), Ireland (+15.3%), Spain (+12.8%), France (+12.6%), Poland (+9.6%), the Netherlands (+7.7%), the UK (+7.5%), Italy (+7.0%) and Belgium (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +37.0% from 2012-2022. Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. France (+5.4 p.p.), Poland (+2.5 p.p.), Lithuania (+2.3 p.p.) and Romania (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Austria and Germany saw its share reduced by -2% and -8.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported first-aid boxes and kits in Europe, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +5.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+10.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+3.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
