The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. The countries with the highest levels of flat glass imports in 2021 were Poland (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Austria (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Spain (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Portugal (X tons), together recording 66% of total import. Italy (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +8.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and France ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 22% of total imports. Ukraine, the Netherlands, Austria, the UK, Spain, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Romania, Italy and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.

Among the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +9.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
