Lcds And Plasmas Market Size in Europe

The Europe LCDs and plasmas market fell modestly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -1.8% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a perceptible slump. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Europe

For the third year in a row, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma, which increased by 4.9% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 33%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, LCDs and plasmas exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (X units), Hungary (X units) and Poland (X units) represented roughly 62% of total exports in 2022. Portugal (X units) took a 7.5% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Germany (5.5%). France (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units), Spain (X units) and the UK (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +28.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 54% of total exports. Portugal, Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Portugal, with a CAGR of +34.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, waning by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, overseas purchases of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma decreased by -7.9% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia was the key importing country with an import of about X units, which recorded 32% of total imports. Spain (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Germany (9.7%), France (6.6%), Italy (5.6%), the UK (5.2%) and Belarus (4.5%). Poland (X units), Romania (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Ukraine (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma. At the same time, Belarus (+16.0%), Spain (+5.0%) and Romania (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2022. Ukraine experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (-1.9%), the Czech Republic (-2.3%), Italy (-3.1%), France (-5.6%), the UK (-8.8%), Germany (-12.3%), the Netherlands (-13.5%) and Slovakia (-16.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Spain, Belarus and Romania increased by +14, +6.4, +3.9 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in Europe, comprising 29% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 9.4% share.

In Russia, LCDs and plasmas imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-11.1% per year) and France (-3.0% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, surging by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
