Market Size for Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine in Europe
The Europe market for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines reached $X in 2021, picking up by 4.4% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 8.7% against the previous year. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine production rose slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Europe
In 2021, approx. X tons of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines were exported in Europe; increasing by 6% against 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X tons) and France (X tons) represented the major exporters of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in 2021, recording near 35% and 30% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together constituting a 22% share of total exports. The following exporters - Italy (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) - each accounted for a 5.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +12.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine supplier in Europe, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 5.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 2.3% share.
In Belgium, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (-2.0% per year) and Germany (-9.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Imports of Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine
Imports in Europe
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines increased by 2.3% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 13%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 26%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Belgium (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 48% of total imports in 2021. Hungary (X tons) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Switzerland (7.4%), France (6.1%) and Italy (4.7%). The following importers - the UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Norway (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Spain (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +12.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), Norway ($X) and Italy ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 59% of total imports.
Norway, with a CAGR of +10.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 42%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
