In 2021, the Europe glass electrical insulator market increased by 1.7% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after five years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the largest exporter of glass electrical insulators in Europe, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was near 44% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Spain (X units), Italy (X units) and Ukraine (X units), together generating a 55% share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glass electrical insulators exports, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Spain (+15.2%) and Ukraine (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Italy (-6.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the largest glass electrical insulator supplying countries in Europe were Russia ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 75% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Russia, with a CAGR of +9.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of glass electrical insulators, when their volume increased by 3.4% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 12%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass electrical insulator imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X units), France (X units), Portugal (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units), the UK (X units), Estonia (X units), Belarus (X units), Poland (X units), Greece (X units), Finland (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) was the key importer of glass electrical insulators in Europe, committing 81% of total import.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
