Exports in Europe
In 2022, exports of glass fibre fabrics in Europe reduced to X tons, with a decrease of -10.8% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics exports declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) represented the key exporter of glass fibre fabrics, making up 27% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Latvia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons). All these countries together held near 41% share of total exports. Italy (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), France (X tons), Moldova (X tons), the UK (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Poland (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to glass fibre fabrics exports from the Czech Republic stood at +5.6%. At the same time, Moldova (+64.1%), Poland (+10.1%), Hungary (+4.8%), Latvia (+3.9%), Slovakia (+3.8%), Belarus (+2.8%) and the UK (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +64.1% from 2012-2022. Germany, Italy and Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-1.2%) and Austria (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Czech Republic (+6.6 p.p.) and Moldova (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of France (-1.7 p.p.), Germany (-3 p.p.) and Belgium (-3.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest glass fibre fabrics supplying countries in Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 44% share of total exports. France, the UK, Belarus, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Moldova, with a CAGR of +67.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 4.4%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre fabrics were imported in Europe; dropping by -10.7% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Spain (X tons) and France (X tons) were the key importers of glass fibre fabrics, together comprising 58% of total imports. Hungary (X tons), Romania (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Slovakia (with a CAGR of +9.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass fibre fabrics in Europe, comprising 20% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with an 8.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.4% share.
In Germany, glass fibre fabrics imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-0.7% per year) and Italy (+2.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -3.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 10%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
