In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest grapefruit juice (single strength) supplier in Europe, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 13% share.

In the Netherlands, grapefruit juice (single strength) exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (-4.2% per year) and Germany (-0.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, grapefruit juice (single strength) imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
