In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Europe gym and fitness equipment market, when its value decreased by -38% to $X. Production of Gym and Fitness Equipment in Europe

In value terms, gym and fitness equipment production dropped to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, gym and fitness equipment exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 43%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the twelve major exporters of gym and fitness equipment, namely the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Hungary, the UK, Slovakia, Sweden, Belgium and the Czech Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +21.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Italy ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 50% of total exports. Spain, Sweden, France, Poland, the UK, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +18.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Gym and Fitness Equipment

Imports in Europe

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of gym and fitness equipment, when their volume decreased by -45.9% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, gym and fitness equipment imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of gym and fitness equipment imports in 2022 were Germany (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together amounting to 57% of total import. Russia (X tons) took a 5.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (4.6%). Italy (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Greece (X tons), Norway (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Austria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +22.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 39% of total imports. France, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Russia, Austria, Norway, the Czech Republic and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +15.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
