In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +101.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Luxembourg (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the major exporter of h-sections of of non-alloy steel in Europe, constituting 76% of total export. The following exporters - the UK (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - together made up 18% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +21.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Luxembourg ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 76% share of total exports. Poland, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +24.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 24% against the previous year. Export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-alloy steel h-sections export price increased by +96.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 13%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections imports surged to $X in 2022. In 2022, Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main importers of h-sections of of non-alloy steel in Europe, together constituting 29% of total imports. France (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together took near 32% share of total imports. Switzerland (X tons), Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In terms of the main importing countries, Denmark, with a CAGR of +13.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 25% against the previous year. Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-alloy steel h-sections import price increased by +92.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 55%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
