The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hair spray exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) represented the largest exporter of hair sprays in Europe, mixing up 68% of total export. It was distantly followed by Italy (X tons), achieving a 5.7% share of total exports. The following exporters - the UK (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Russia (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Poland (X tons) - together made up 21% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +14.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 60% share of total exports.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +10.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 3.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, hair spray imports in Europe was estimated at X tons, surging by 5.4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 6.8% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hair spray imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the UK (X tons), Poland (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the key importers of hair sprays, together generating 59% of total imports. Spain (X tons), France (X tons), Romania (X tons), Austria (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hair spray imports into Germany stood at +3.8%. At the same time, Romania (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +4.1% from 2012-2022. Italy experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.2%), Spain (-1.5%), the Netherlands (-1.9%), Belgium (-2.0%), Austria (-2.8%), Poland (-3.3%), Sweden (-4.7%), Russia (-6.7%), the UK (-7.7%) and France (-14.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Germany (+10 p.p.) and Romania (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-2.3 p.p.), the UK (-4.6 p.p.) and France (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hair sprays in Europe, comprising 19% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 7.5% share.

In Germany, hair spray imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the UK (-4.4% per year) and Poland (-1.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 8.3%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
