In value terms, hard plastic comb exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +29.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 61%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Greece represented the main exporter of hard rubber or plastic combs in Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 53% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by the Netherlands (7.4%), Poland (5.4%) and Spain (5.1%). France (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Greece was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hard rubber or plastic combs exports, with a CAGR of +48.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+24.8%), Poland (+23.4%), Spain (+19.0%), the Netherlands (+17.7%) and Germany (+10.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Greece (+49 p.p.), Poland (+2.9 p.p.), the Netherlands (+1.8 p.p.) and Spain (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Germany (-4.7 p.p.) and France (-11.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest hard plastic comb supplier in Europe, comprising 23% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Greece ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +6.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Greece (+44.2% per year) and the Netherlands (+18.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 13%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
Hard plastic comb imports surged to X tons in 2022, growing by 19% against 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +103.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, hard plastic comb imports surged to $X in 2022. In 2022, Greece (X tons) represented the main importer of hard rubber or plastic combs, making up 27% of total imports. The UK (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons), Russia (X tons), Spain (X tons), France (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons). All these countries together took near 47% share of total imports. Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

At the same time, Belarus (+20.8%), Hungary (+17.3%), Denmark (+14.5%), Poland (+9.3%), the Netherlands (+7.8%), Germany (+7.1%), Spain (+4.8%), Italy (+4.6%), France (+3.4%), the UK (+2.6%) and Russia (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Belgium (-3.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Greece (+24 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Spain (-1.9 p.p.), France (-2.4 p.p.), Belgium (-3.1 p.p.), the UK (-5.7 p.p.) and Russia (-6.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and France ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 40% share of total imports. Spain, the Netherlands, Russia, Greece, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +21.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
