Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hypochlorites, chlorites and hypobromites imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, France (X tons), distantly followed by Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main importers of hypochlorites, commercial calcium hypochlorite, chlorites and hypobromites, together achieving 62% of total imports. In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 37% of total imports. The Netherlands, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
Portugal, with a CAGR of +15.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
