Imines Market Size in Europe

After three years of growth, the Europe imines market decreased by -13.9% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +62.5% against 2017 indices. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Imines Production in Europe

In value terms, imines production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production saw a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 13%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe

In 2021, the amount of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof exported in Europe expanded markedly to X tons, surging by 11% on the year before. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +6.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +104.9% against 2014 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

France (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Norway (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented roughly 91% of total exports in 2021.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X) remains the largest imines supplier in Europe, comprising 40% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 10% share.

In France, imines exports increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+8.0% per year) and Spain (+2.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imines Imports

Imports in Europe

After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof decreased by -2.1% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In value terms, imines imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Italy (X tons) represented the key importers of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, together generating 73% of total imports. Belgium (X tons), the UK (X tons), France (X tons), Sweden (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Greece (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +41.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 40% share of total imports. Switzerland, Russia, Poland, Italy, the UK, Belgium, France, Sweden, Greece and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.

Among the main importing countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +44.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 8%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
