Imports in Europe
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) decreased by -2.7% to X units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The following importers - Poland (X units), France (X units) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) - together made up 8.6% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +20.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest industrial sewing machines (non-automatic) importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 52% share of total imports. Poland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, the UK, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Greece, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 19%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
