The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+8.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2021, ionones and methylionones imports in Europe surged to X tons, with an increase of 48% on 2020. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ionones and methylionones imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 11%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
