In value terms, metal self-locking nut exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Germany was the largest exporter of iron or steel nuts (including self-locking nuts) in Europe, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 38% of total exports in 2021. The Netherlands (X tons) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Italy (8.9%), Belgium (6.7%), France (6.3%) and Denmark (4.8%). Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +11.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, France (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belgium (+3.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of France (-3.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest metal self-locking nut supplier in Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +4.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+2.1% per year) and Italy (+6.4% per year).

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2021. While the share of Spain (+4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Germany (-2.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
