The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Italy (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and France (X tons) represented roughly 80% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Belgium (X tons), Norway (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest steel plaited band supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 38% share of total exports. France, Poland, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Ireland and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.

Among the main exporting countries, Ireland, with a CAGR of +18.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Based on 2022 figures, steel plaited band export price increased by +74.5% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 49%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 37%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, steel plaited band imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The UK (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the major importers of iron or steel plaited bands and slings in 2022, reaching near 18% and 14% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together mixing up a 31% share of total imports. The following importers - Denmark (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Romania (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Finland (X tons) - together made up 23% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +11.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest steel plaited band importing markets in Europe were the UK ($X), Germany ($X) and Norway ($X), together comprising 34% of total imports. France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Romania, Finland, Sweden and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +10.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+15.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
