The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 11%. The shipments of the eight major exporters of jams, jellies, puree and pastes, namely Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Austria (X tons), Denmark (X tons), Russia (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest jam, jelly, puree and paste supplying countries in Europe were France ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 49% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Poland, Greece, Denmark, Serbia, Russia and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 41%.

Among the main exporting countries, Russia, with a CAGR of +18.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 10% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of jams, jellies, puree and pastes were imported in Europe; surging by 7% compared with 2020 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, jam, jelly, puree and paste imports rose notably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, the largest jam, jelly, puree and paste importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the UK ($X), with a combined 40% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +14.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
