Spain (X tons), the UK (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Austria (X tons), Romania (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +18.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Italy ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 44% of total exports. France, the UK, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +13.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 4.4% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), Spain (X tons), the UK (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2021. Italy (X tons), Austria (X tons), Russia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Romania (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
