Exports from Italy increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the UK (+7.6%), Denmark (+5.7%), the Netherlands (+5.4%) and Spain (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the UK emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +7.6% from 2012-2022. Hungary, Switzerland and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ireland (-2.0%), Germany (-2.9%) and Sweden (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Italy and the Netherlands increased by +3.6 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 72% of total exports. Switzerland, Spain, France, Denmark, the UK, Sweden, Hungary and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
Denmark, with a CAGR of +6.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 6.5% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of machinery for packing or wrapping in Europe dropped to X units, waning by -7.5% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
