In 2021, Italy (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main exporters of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in Europe, together committing 42% of total exports. Poland (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 7.3% share, followed by the Netherlands (7.3%), the UK (6.6%), Finland (5.7%), Estonia (5.1%) and Spain (5%). France (X units), Belgium (X units), Switzerland (X units), Portugal (X units) and Sweden (X units) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Estonia (with a CAGR of +36.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest electroplating machine supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 61% share of total exports. Finland, Spain, the UK, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Estonia, Sweden and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Estonia, with a CAGR of +40.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 11% against the previous year. Export price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electroplating machine export price increased by +68.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+13.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis decreased by -44.3% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 190% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, electroplating machine imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +68.7% against 2018 indices. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Austria (X units), the UK (X units), Russia (X units), France (X units), Germany (X units), Estonia (X units), Slovakia (X units), Greece (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Serbia (X units), Norway (X units) and Spain (X units) represented roughly 77% of total imports in 2021. Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +85.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in Europe, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 10% share.
In Russia, electroplating machine imports declined by an average annual rate of -2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+33.9% per year) and Germany (+15.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 183% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
