The Netherlands represented the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which amounted to 52% of total exports. Italy (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X units) and Belgium (X units). All these countries together took near 36% share of total exports. The following exporters - Spain (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Switzerland (X units) - each recorded a 5.6% share of total exports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machines for preparing, weaving and knitting textiles exports, with a CAGR of +52.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+27.9%) and the Czech Republic (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Italy (-5.7%), Spain (-5.7%), Switzerland (-11.3%) and Germany (-11.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+51 p.p.) and Belgium (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Spain, Switzerland, Italy and Germany saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -3.6%, -11.8% and -33.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest textile weaving and knitting machinery supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for 83% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Belgium, with a CAGR of +37.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -13.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+8.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe
In 2021, supplies from abroad of machines for preparing, weaving and knitting textiles increased by 18% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 49%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, the largest textile weaving and knitting machinery importing markets in Europe were Italy ($X), Russia ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 39% of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Portugal, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 35%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +17.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 9.9% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+11.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
