Germany (+17 p.p.), Latvia (+5.5 p.p.) and Austria (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Slovakia saw its share reduced by -7.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest semiconductor wafer manufacturing machine supplier in Europe, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 6.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 1.5% share.

Imports into Germany decreased at an average annual rate of -2.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Sweden (+47.9%), Austria (+33.1%), Ireland (+32.9%), Lithuania (+8.6%) and Russia (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sweden emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +47.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Finland (-1.9%), the UK (-2.7%), France (-5.5%), Italy (-9.5%), the Czech Republic (-16.6%), the Netherlands (-23.4%) and Belgium (-24.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Germany (+12 p.p.), Austria (+11 p.p.), Russia (+4.6 p.p.), Sweden (+4.2 p.p.), the UK (+1.8 p.p.), Ireland (+1.8 p.p.) and Finland (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-7.6 p.p.), the Netherlands (-14 p.p.) and Belgium (-18.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+31.7% per year) and France (-6.3% per year).
