Magnetic Media Market Size in Europe

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Europe magnetic media market, when its value increased by 29% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of magnetic media, not recorded, except cards with a magnetic stripe were finally on the rise to reach X units after four years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, magnetic media exports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 7.7%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X units) represented the key exporter of magnetic media, not recorded, except cards with a magnetic stripe, constituting 32% of total exports. Germany (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by France (13%), the Czech Republic (11%), the Netherlands (8.6%) and Spain (5.1%). Italy (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the magnetic media, not recorded, except cards with a magnetic stripe exports, with a CAGR of +33.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+21.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, waning by -33.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In value terms, magnetic media imports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Spain (X units) was the major importer of magnetic media, not recorded, except cards with a magnetic stripe, committing 40% of total imports. It was distantly followed by France (X units), Poland (X units), Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units), together constituting a 45% share of total imports. Belgium (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Spain was also the fastest-growing in terms of the magnetic media, not recorded, except cards with a magnetic stripe imports, with a CAGR of +17.8% from 2012 to 2021. Among the main importing countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +12.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -25.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 16%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
