The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X units), distantly followed by Denmark (X units), Germany (X units), Spain (X units), Romania (X units), Italy (X units) and Belgium (X units) represented the major exporters of mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics, together constituting 74% of total exports. Portugal (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Sweden (X units), Austria (X units), Serbia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics exports from Poland stood at -1.8%. Romania (+6.4 p.p.), Spain (+5.3 p.p.), Germany (+5 p.p.), Portugal (+2.8 p.p.) and Serbia (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Poland saw its share reduced by -2.4%, -2.9%, -3%, -5.7% and -8.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics supplier in Europe, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Denmark ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Denmark (+0.1% per year) and Germany (+9.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 36% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Sweden ($X per unit) and Denmark ($X per unit), while Serbia ($X per unit) and Austria ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+2.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of mattresses of cellular rubber or plastics decreased by -34.8% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. Italy, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, Denmark, Poland and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.
Among the main importing countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +11.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while Norway ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
