As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, MDF exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +38.2% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X cubic meters), followed by Russia (X cubic meters), Belgium (X cubic meters), Spain (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Austria (X cubic meters), Belarus (X cubic meters) and Romania (X cubic meters) represented the main exporters of MDF, together comprising 69% of total exports. The Netherlands (X cubic meters), Ireland (X cubic meters), France (X cubic meters), Portugal (X cubic meters) and Italy (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +26.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Austria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Russia, Spain, Poland, Ireland, Belarus, Romania, Italy, France, Portugal and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 42%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +27.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Europe stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per cubic meter), while the Netherlands ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mdf Imports
Imports in Europe
MDF imports rose remarkably to X cubic meters in 2021, growing by 11% against the year before. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +55.0% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 12%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, MDF imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +76.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X cubic meters), the UK (X cubic meters), Germany (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Italy (X cubic meters), Belgium (X cubic meters), France (X cubic meters), Ukraine (X cubic meters), Russia (X cubic meters), Spain (X cubic meters), Austria (X cubic meters) and Portugal (X cubic meters) represented the largest importer of MDF in Europe, comprising 72% of total import. Sweden (X cubic meters) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +21.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest MDF importing markets in Europe were the UK ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 26% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 47%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +22.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per cubic meter, surging by 22% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per cubic meter), while Belgium ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
