The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, rubber-to-metal and moulded article exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the largest exporters of rubber-to-metal and moulded articles in 2021, amounting to approx. 22% and 18% of total exports, respectively. Italy (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 7.8% share, followed by Spain (7.7%), the Czech Republic (6.2%) and France (5.2%). The following exporters - Slovakia (X tons), Romania (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) - together made up 22% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +9.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest rubber-to-metal and moulded article supplier in Europe, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled +2.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+3.9% per year) and Italy (+2.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 7.1%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 24% of total imports. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), the UK (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Russia (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together making up a 54% share of total imports. The following importers - Austria (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - each amounted to a 6.9% share of total imports.
Imports into Germany increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+12.6%), Hungary (+12.0%), the Netherlands (+6.5%), Poland (+5.5%), Italy (+5.5%), Romania (+4.6%), Russia (+4.6%), the Czech Republic (+2.9%), France (+2.4%), Austria (+1.3%) and the UK (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +12.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Spain (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belgium (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Germany, the UK and Spain saw its share reduced by -1.9%, -2% and -3.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported rubber-to-metal and moulded articles in Europe, comprising 24% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +1.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+2.5% per year) and Russia (+6.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 6.2% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
