In 2022, the Europe non-electric bakery oven market increased by 32% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total consumption indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +34.9% against 2020 indices. The level of consumption peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven production expanded markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 13%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Europe

In 2022, overseas shipments of non-electric bakery ovens decreased by -16.5% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -25.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

Spain (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main exporters of non-electric bakery ovens in 2022, finishing at approx. 34% and 25% of total exports, respectively. Germany (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 8.7% share, followed by Denmark (6.5%) and Slovenia (5.1%). The Czech Republic (X units), the UK (X units), Sweden (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Lithuania (X units) and France (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +24.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest non-electric bakery oven supplier in Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 7% share.

In Italy, non-electric bakery oven exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-1.1% per year) and Denmark (-4.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 2.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 44%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, overseas purchases of non-electric bakery ovens increased by 25% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, non-electric bakery oven imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Spain prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 50% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Greece (X units), constituting an 8.9% share of total imports. Slovakia (X units), the UK (X units), Poland (X units), Norway (X units), Russia (X units), Switzerland (X units), Romania (X units), Germany (X units), France (X units), Portugal (X units) and Italy (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Spain was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-electric bakery ovens imports, with a CAGR of +40.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Greece (+38.4%), Norway (+25.4%), Slovakia (+14.4%), Portugal (+13.6%), Switzerland (+7.5%), the UK (+6.6%) and Italy (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Poland, Romania and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-1.4%) and Russia (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Spain (+46 p.p.), Greece (+7.9 p.p.) and Norway (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the UK, Italy, Germany, Romania, France, Poland and Russia saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -2.7%, -3.3%, -3.6%, -4.2%, -4.3% and -17.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Spain ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 36% of total imports. The UK, Poland, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Norway and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +18.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -30.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
