The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +94.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 28%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the major exporter of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal, achieving 42% of total exports. Germany (X tons) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belgium (9.3%) and the UK (5.1%). The following exporters - Italy (X tons), France (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Russia (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - together made up 20% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal non-electric bell exports from the Netherlands stood at +14.6%. At the same time, Poland (+21.7%), Spain (+15.3%), Belgium (+11.7%), Russia (+6.8%), France (+3.3%), Italy (+2.0%) and Germany (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +21.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the UK (-2.1%), Austria (-13.9%) and Denmark (-22.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 57% share of total exports. Poland, the UK, Italy, France, Austria, Spain, Russia and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +39.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+14.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, metal non-electric bell imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the largest importers of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal, together committing 68% of total imports.
