In value terms, non-electric roasting furnace production fell rapidly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +27.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the production volume increased by 33% against the previous year. For the third year in a row, Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting, which increased by 88% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-electric roasting furnace exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and Spain (X units) represented roughly 78% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X units), constituting a 6.1% share of total exports. The Netherlands (X units), Austria (X units) and Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +27.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-electric roasting furnace supplying countries in Europe were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 71% of total exports. Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

Among the main exporting countries, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +13.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -18.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (-1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, purchases abroad of non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting decreased by -55% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 152%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric roasting furnace imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 56%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) was the major importer of non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting, creating 42% of total imports. Norway (X units) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina (9.3%), the Netherlands (9.1%), Serbia (7.6%), Switzerland (7.6%) and the UK (6.1%).

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -8.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Netherlands (+19.9%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (+19.5%), Serbia (+17.7%), Norway (+16.0%) and Switzerland (+12.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +19.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the UK (-11.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Norway, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, Serbia and Switzerland increased by +11, +8.1, +8.1, +6.5 and +5.9 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting in Europe, comprising 29% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Switzerland ($X), with a 5.2% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 1.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at -5.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+20.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+18.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 179% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while Norway ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
