In 2021, the Europe objective lens market increased by 56% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, objective lens production stood at $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5.3%. In 2021, shipments abroad of objective lenses for cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers increased by 57% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after six years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 74%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, objective lens exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands was the main exporter of objective lenses for cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers in Europe, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 43% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Germany (X units) and Poland (X units), together comprising a 27% share of total exports. Hungary (X units), France (X units), Sweden (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Spain (X units), Italy (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Belgium (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +77.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest objective lens supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 73% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, Sweden, Slovakia, Spain, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +41.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -20.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-4.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

For the third consecutive year, Europe recorded growth in supplies from abroad of objective lenses for cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers, which increased by 79% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, objective lens imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The Netherlands was the largest importer of objective lenses for cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers in Europe, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 42% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Germany (X units) and Poland (X units), together mixing up a 23% share of total imports. Spain (X units), France (X units), Hungary (X units), Italy (X units), Sweden (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the UK (X units), Belgium (X units) and Romania (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to objective lens imports into the Netherlands stood at +17.4%. At the same time, Hungary (+54.3%), Romania (+34.4%), Poland (+34.1%), the Czech Republic (+26.2%), Spain (+16.3%), Sweden (+12.3%), Germany (+12.3%), France (+8.8%), Belgium (+4.7%) and Italy (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest objective lens importing markets in Europe were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X), with a combined 54% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Poland, Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Romania and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 31%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +37.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -30.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 8.6% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
